Understanding weight and weight loss:

It's very simple to know your body weight; just stand on a weight scale and you will know it. When we talk about weight loss, many of us think that if we follow correctly, every time we stand on a weight scale, it will show a lower value even if you are in good shape. I also had the same feeling most of my life. Then I read many articles, and my view on weight and weight management changed totally. Before moving forward, let me establish our understanding and goal simply. What we see on a weight scale is a composition of water, lean mass, and fat. When we talk about weight reduction, we will focus on:

a. Losing body fat

b. Preserving and building lean mass

And moving towards optimal health. This journey needs to be achievable, affordable, and practical. Let's not put our body through too much pain so the entire concept becomes a burden for us.

Water:

The human body is composed of approximately 70% water, and when we focus on body weight loss, we will also lose some part of it. I have seen some of my friends try to follow a Keto diet and trying to cut carbohydrates. As the name suggests, carbohydrates have a large portion of water that is added to our body. So when we follow this Keto diet or carbohydrate-reduced type of diet, our body loses water eventually, and we see body weight reduction. And the sad part is, this weight comes back to us soon. Many of us have already experienced this also.

Lean Mass:

When we think about lean mass, it's a composition of muscle, bone, and organs. Our target here is to preserve and increase this part as required. Now the tricky question is how to increase it? Do we need to go through weightlifting training or so? At this moment, you need to trust me. Our muscles keep and make us strong and fit. In many processes, you may lose a lot of body weight, but if you also lose your muscle, you will look sick, feel tired, and unattractive even to yourself. So this is also one of our key targets; we want to look better, toned, and fit.

Fat:

The biggest focus we need to keep is on body fat. We will try to reduce body fat as required. Body fat is not good if you have obesity, but at the same time, if you lose all your fat, you won't even want to see yourself in front of the mirror. Later in this process, we will try to maintain a healthy lifestyle so body fat remains in control.

All the processes of losing body weight do not have to be tough on you. But you need to be focused and disciplined so at the end of this journey, you will fall in love with yourself again.

Summary:
  1. Human body combined of water, fat, and lean mass.

  2. In this fitness concept, we will focus on optimizing water and fat in our body.

  3. We will increase lean mass to become fit, strong, and attractive.
